Carmelo to Yao: The daily scoop on the NBA

The NBA draft lottery and the Sonics are leaving for OKC

The NBA season is over however the offseason is proving to be just a interesting. Derrick Rose got drafted to Chicago which was no surprise and Michael Beasely went Miami. The Lopez twins got drafted in the top 15 and went to New Jersey and Phoenix respectively. The trade to bring OJ Mayo to New York didn’t work because lets face it nobody wants any players from Knicks. I think it will be hard to lure Lebron to New York when your starting five are all constantly getting into trouble in the offseason.

The Sonics are leaving to go to OKLAHOMA City, but the city of Seattle has reached an agreement to keep the Sonics name and team colors. I still can’t believe that the Sonics are heading for OKC after 41 years in Seattle, how can a city just lose interest in a team so fast. 22 out 41 season the sonics made the playoffs and the team has an all time win percentage of over .500. There are certain cities which I can not imagine not having an NBA franchise: Boston, LA, New York, Detroit Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio and definitely Seattle. I think that Seattle will have a new team within the next five years because Charlotte was able to do the same thing.

The final thing I want to address are the trade rumours involving Carmelo Anthony. Will Carmelo be in a different jersey come November? I think so because he has bitter taste in his mouth fro losing so many times in the first round of the playoffs. Melo doesn’t want to be known as the next T-Mac and with he current Nuggets roster does not have the discipline to make it past the first round. The next question you may be asking is what team do you likely see him going to and will he make that team a championship contender. I have heard that there have been talks about Melo going to Detroit but I don’t see him fitting into that defense oriented situation where shots are limited and the rock is equally distributed to every player on the team. Carmelo can’t fit into this situtation at this stage for his career because he is still looking to get off as many shots as possible. The next rumor has Melo going to New Jersey in exchange for Vince Carter, in my opinion this is most likely the deal that would work out. The Nets have Devin Harris who plays a uptempo style similair to Carmelo and Melo would be tempted to play with Harris. The other reason Melo would be interested in a trade to NJ would be that Melo would have many shot opportunites and the Nets supporrting cast has gotten better with Yi Jianlin, Bobby Simmons and Brook Lopez joining the squad.

Is the Jermaine O’neal for Tj Ford and Rasho a good deal? I really think that Indiana benefits the most out of this trade because the Pacers need a true point guard. The Raptors are really gambling on this trade because O’neal plays a lot like Bosh and who knows if he has recovered from his injury. who knows maybe this trade will revitalize JO career or it may kill what little is left of it.
